It only takes 3 staples (or a fancy binding machine) to turn this 47 page PDF into a booklet for the year.
There are 23 topics (46 pages), with 5 mini activities for each. Mondays are quick, others require a 3-5 minute video or short reading material.
Main Idea Monday - Review the main objective for the whole unit. List out new vocabulary terms, considering which ones you are familiar with and which ones are new to you.
Take a Look Tuesday - Observe an image, sketch it, and relate it to the topic. Use this as an opportunity to look back over your notes for a connection. Use vocabulary.
Where in the World Wednesday - Wednesdays are for traveling the world to explore geology, ecosystems, interesting animals populations, and ocean processes by watching a video.
Take a Dive Thursday - Dive in to the details of a particular topic. This page usually has reading material on it.
Creature Feature Friday - Learn all about a new species related to the topic each week.
Don’t want to be tied to doing something specific on a specific day of the week? I included a version that leaves out the Mon-Tues-Wed-Thurs-Fri from the titles. You can use these however you want! As an alternative for bellringers, as exit tickets, or here and there as review activities when you need to fill a few minutes. There are cover page options, some editing options, and slides to go with each day that include answers and video links.
Last year, I needed to change things up. This is what I came up with and it ended up improving my organization!
When students were absent, I tucked their missing work into their booklet. When they returned, they didn’t have to ask for what they missed.
I hand them out at the start of each class, and the ones left in my hand are absent :) that’s easy attendance!
I can write notes and reminders to students in their booklet where I know they’ll see it the next day.
